For many years now these techniques have opponents and supporters and in more than a hundred years of history there is still no conclusive answer regarding the physiology and morphology of the iris signs.

In recent times medical doctors in Russia and some European countries continue to use Iridology in daily practice. Not only that but in-depth fundamental research to include a wide range clinical and laboratory comparison. Iridology finds a place in paediatrics, gastroenterology and cardiology. Iris data has shown that it is possible to draw up a diagnostic algorithm using computerised systems created by several different scientific groups (1,16).

In the former Soviet Union, Iridology found it is own place in 1967. The first Russian official publication about Iridology was made by E.S. Velkhover and F.N. Romashov. Their names are associated with first introduction to Iridology in the former Russian Empire. Base science made in the University of Patrice Lumumba

in Moscow. Later clinical and post graduate researches were also carried out at the Central Institute of the Special Training for Practical Doctors in Moscow. The Central Research Institute of the Gastroenterology, Kiev Institute of Oncology, and the Special Centre of Microsurgery on the Eyes in Latvia made additional scientific contribution to Iridology.

In 1982 the first Russian book for Iridologist called “Principles of Iridology”: was published by E.S. Velkhover, N.B. Shulpina, Z.A. Aliev, F.N. Romashov. After short time this book became best seller and the second edition was published in 1988 by same authors.

In 1984 Iridology in Russia made the next important steps when the official Medical Scientific board made recommendations for using Iridology in daily medical practice. It gave new life to the old methodology and powerful tools for practitioners. Special certified training courses were set up followed in1989 by the first Russian Iridology Association. Then in 1990 the co-operative “Oculus” organised first All-Union Iridology Conference. About 3,000 professionals attended this convention. We presented information about computerised methodology in Iridology. In the same year, 1990, we presented our computerided table on the first competition “Computerided Technique in Iridology.” Our software was recognized as the best and won rewards.

We must remember that Russian Iridology does not arise in a vacuum. It shares a rich international history and practice.

1900th to current times R. Shnaubel, I. Angerer, F. Vida and Deck, F. Roberts, R. Bourdiol, T. Kriege, P. Dimkov, B. Jensen, and many other authors from different part of the world.

In 1981 Denis J. Stark wrote ” Iridology is already 100 years old and yet there has been no controlled clinical trial of its efficacy. No attempt is made to prove the efficacy of the technique is an acceptable scientific manner”(24). Many authors criticised this method for taking its information from a publications which dated from 1970-1980 manuscripts. In recent time from different sources we can find information about the latest discovery which is being made by d ifferent scientific groups and what is important is that this kind of discovery is correlated with clinical and laboratory data.

For example: Table 1 shows publication by years in different countries made by physicians.

Table 2 shows the number of patients investiaged.

From seven publications that opposed this method, just two have analysed data from patients’ populations. Another just refers to that.

Thirteen publications that have direct relation to Iridology and eleven from different clinical study have been found from a NLM Medline search. This list is not all inclusive. More than a thousand subjects investigated by different scientific groups where Iridology is recognised. Additional abstracts from different medical scientific groups just give more information about some of the relatiionships between the human iris and the internal organs.

Not so long ago we received reliable data about eye colours. Different colours relate to pigmented cells’ melanocytes. Brown colour containing higher-level melanin, light eyes – low level. But there is more to this relationship than just colour. Some authors found a relationship between eye colour and pure tone hearing threshold (5), heart rate response to intramuscular injection of atropine (6), dose-response to pilocarpine (1), correlation eyes colour to reactive motor performance (12,19), a patient case reported about sector geterochromia for neural crest disease (2), dependents living population around the world (27).

Data correlated from population of Moscow city and population from the south region of France. Moscow is 12 degrees closer to north than the France region. Group authors have described in Moscow and Moscow district 67% populations have light colour (blue, grey, green) and in north side France 56% brown and dark brown colours. From that source was expected increase latitude by 1 degree to south the number of people with brown eyes to 2% (27) increases.

Through evolutionary processes people from countries that are located close to the northern longitudes have low level pigmentation and those who live in the middle and south latitudes have a predominately brown eye colour. From physiology vision we can realise medical and a biological problem of the acclimatization (27). M. Millobot in 1976 studied a group of people from different nations (English, Afro-American, Indian, Chinese). He is found that people with blue eyes were twice more sensitive to wearing contact lenses than those with brown eyes colour, and with four times higher sensitivities then for whom who have dark eyes.

About different reaction to miotic medication was founded by Laurence S. at all in 1971 (10). He is studied hypotensive response to pilocarpine from patients with glaucoma. This group science found that patients with blue eyes need lower dosage pilocarpine (1%), than with brown (4%), and dark brown eye colours (8%).

Another author – Freedl K.E. at al established varying reactions to atropine in different groups of people with different eye colour. Subjects with more pigmented irises showed a more rapid rise in a heart rate compared to fewer pigmented irises. An identical ocular drug-melanin interaction result founded by Salazar-Bookaman M. (21).

Zubareva T.V. and Gadakcin K.A. studied 1104 patients and health persons have been found similar Iridology signs in cardiology disease – 78%, hypertonia – 66%, stenocardia – 70%, gastroenterology – 87%, pulmonology – 94%, kidney – 93%, CR – 50%, ophthalmology – 81% (33).

Velkhover E.S. and all describe that gastroenterology disease can be developed in 90.3%, cardiology in 60%, liver and gallbladder in 71.6% (27).

Some investigation made in military population and as prophylactic medical examination of the group of people from area contaminated by radioactive substance (15).

Not so long time ago Willenbring and all studied neuropathic pain on rats (32). After freezing the animals sciatic nerve it was noted that animal has pale eye syndrome or the normal pink eye colour of the albino rat is changed. After over a hundred years we have a animal model which is reproduced in laboratory experiments. This is very important evidence, which reinforces and supports the discovery made by I. Peczely.

Iridology as a non-invasive diagnostic method is ignored by the medical community and therefore is not recognised in some countries, which is a great loss for preventative medical care. On all investigations which were compared with clinical, laboratory methods and patient history, we can make concludes that Iris diagnosis can be used for the detection of different internal diseases considering close connection between the eye and internal media of the body. Practitioners can choose or not to believe in Iridology – it is our choice, but we can’t ignore the official statistical data.

In the Iridology Analysis Pro final analysis report, there are 153 possible results that are based on both the software’s automatic detection system and manual selections of various signs in the iris.

There are 87 manual based selections of iris signs, leaving us with 66 possible automatic analysis result datasets that are primarily based upon pupil deformations, decentrations, and multiformaties.

As a matter of fact, the first paragraph of the software results is from the software’s automatic detection of pupil analysis. It is very difficult for any human to accurately analyze-diagnose the human pupil and why this software can greatly assist us in accurate analysis of the pupil.

There are four steps to the analysis result generator:

Step 1: Clinic-Practitioner details, patient-client information, iris photos and history. The email address used for your iridology research membership registration will be automatically applied. Given that the primary cause of the disease has not been established, the problem can be solved in one way – the early detection of breast cancer.

Unfortunately, diagnosis of breast cancer (such as having independent value – physical examination, mammography, and auxiliary – thermography, ultrasound, tumor markers) do not resolve the problem, due to various reasons.

In the current situation, it is advisable not to carry out mass preventive examinations for which no money, and focus on the formation of cancer risk.

In the Moscow Research Institute of Oncology and the PA Herzen m from 1989 to 1994 studied the possibility of testing the iris to form a group onkoriska. In particular, it was formed by a group of 85 women – workers of one of Moscow companies.We had to find out, you can use the iris to detect diseases of the female breast, or not.

Scheme of the study was simple. First, the examinations of the iris, an entry in the medical card, then all 85 women were a complete clinical examination, including main and auxiliary diagnostic methods mentioned above.

As a result, 41 women on the results of clinical examination iridoskopii and found to be healthy. In 26 cases, iridoskopiya and clinical examination revealed various forms of mastitis. In 18 cases the iris revealed changes which were not at the time of clinical confirmation and were regarded as false-positive results iridoskopii.

In 2002 – 2003, the Federal Scientific Clinical and experimental center of traditional methods of diagnosis and treatment of Russian Ministry of Health sought to re-survey of 18 patients who were identified by iris changes are not clinically proven.

As it turned out, three women in the group have since developed cancer of the breast, and 10 women have been identified various forms of mastitis, 3 women died from diseases not related to the pathology of the breast and two women no longer live in Moscow.

Conclusions and prospects.

The results can be considered as the best solution to the problem of formation of cancer risk for female breast cancer.

Identified in 18 cases, the changes can be seen as signs of flowing secretly pathological process.Perhaps, the method will be used in the organization of secondary prevention of breast cancer.

Then it came as a severe shock when the doctors at the Veteran’s Administration told me that according to the medical diagnosis, I had a hopeless case of Glomerulonephritis… there wasn’t anything they could do for me and I should return home and do the best I could. I had everything to live for…a wonderful wife, children, family and very uplifting church activities, and I had always planned my life to be a long one like everyone else does, I suppose, and then at the age of 30,1 was being told by the most highly qualified doctors that there was nothing they could do for me. They sent me home to die and perhaps in the not-too-distant future.

I was administered to by members of my family and my church; then I met people with a good knowledge of herbs and how to administer them: I was introduced to Iridology and Nutrition and when I began to feel some relief, my faith and determination to overcome this illness was strengthened a great deal.

Learning about nutrition was a new experience for me because in the past I had eaten any and all types of food, junk foods, pitchers of Cool-Ade with every meal because it didn’t cost much and tasted good, and I always had eaten and stuffed myself with as much food as was available. At work the other men called me the garbage pail because I would go around and eat anything they had left from their lunches. During this time I had bowel movements about twice a week and sometimes less than that.

I was doing the best I could to change my previous eating habits and many wonderful people were helping me in every way they could, but as time went on I realzed I needed additional help but didn’t know exactly where to go. I was reading all I could of Dr. Bernard Jensen’s materials and books on nutrition and Iridology. I always had a very good feeling about what I was reading and I finally made up my mind that I had to meet this man.

With the help of my family and my wife, on January 7th, 1977,1 arrived in San Diego, California and was taken to Dr. Jensen’s Hidden Valley Health Ranch. This quiet little ranch was high in the hills above Escondido with sandy roads, horses running in the pasture, a beautiful flower garden and swimming pool, and most of all there were good friendly people.

At that time I needed help to walk. My weight was 175 pounds with bloated abdomen and my legs were swollen bigger than my head. I could hardly walk and I think something like the word “waddle” would have been a better word to use because I felt something like a duck, I suppose, because my rear end flopped from side to side just like a duck. My stomach on down to my toes was so out of shape I felt twice the size that I actually should have been.

I was the first patient to go in to see Dr. Jensen the next morning. I told him I had read his Iridology book twice and studied it and also his nutrition courses. He examined both irises and was telling me what he found so fast, I hardly could keep up with him and then I forgot half of what he said. I know of some of the things that were weak and sluggish, but there were things I hadn’t realized. I knew the kidneys were weak and this was my main weakness. I didn’t realize that I had poor circulation to the head and that my heart was under stress. I did realize, however, that my pancreas and testicles were problem areas along with some acidity in my stomach and my whole body was run down.

I learned later that Dr. Jensen almost came to the conclusion that the patient was incurable and was going to suggest that I return home, but fortunately for me, he accepted me as a patient.

Three months later I returned to my home. My weight was about 141 pounds, my body was slender, and to condense a very long story that would make a large book to cover completely, I would like to add here Dr. Jensen’s interview with me when I returned to the ranch the following September for the last Iridology Seminar for the summer.

(The class had just viewed both my irises on the video screen.)

Dr. Jensen: Val, I hear that you are interested in the health work now, and you’re really into the diet work. Val: Yes.

Dr. Jensen: And you’ve gotten into it enough yourself that you will not go back?

Val: That’s true…never will! Dr. Jensen: Never will! One nice thing about going into this health work… very few people ever go back because they find something. I’m wondering if you wouldn’t tell, Val, some of the things that have happened here. Sometime ago we were having considerable kidney trouble. I would like you to mention here how much did you weigh when you came in? Val: About 175 pounds.

Dr. Jensen: How much do you weigh now?

Val: About 141 pounds.

Dr. Jensen: When he came in he was quite bloated. We found he had an abdomen that really was a tremendous thing. His legs were quite swollen. That had been going on for some months, hadn’t it, Val?

Val: Oh yes. It was about a year and a half.

Dr. Jensen: Yes, about a year and a half…he had this swelling. Now in the beginning, I might just ask this question here. What did they diagnose this as?

Do you remember?

Val: Glomerulonephritis.

Dr. Jensen: Glomerulonephritis. Now, they did suspect other things here, did they not?

Val: Well, they didn’t really know what was wrong with me; they just knew that it was nephritis and there was nothing they could do for me and that’s about all that they told me. Dr. Jensen: What kind of tests did they make?

Val: They made a kidney biopsy. I had it done at the Veteran’s Hospital in Salt Lake City. And, from the biopsy, they didn’t get the tissue that they wanted, but when I left, they just told me that it really wasn’t that necessary to get another sample, although they would like to, because there was really nothing they could do for me and it was better to go home and die there, than it was to go in the hospital.

Dr. Jensen: In other words, they didn’t give you too much chance of living? Val: No, they didn’t. Dr. Jensen: I’m wondering, did they take this biopsy on one side of the body or on the other, or did they take it from both kidneys?

Val: No. They took it on the right side — three of them.

Dr. Jensen: They took three biopsies on the right side? I’m wondering, why they took it on the right side.

Val: I don’t know.

Dr. Jensen: You don’t know? They suspected probably the right side, and probably that was where they had the tenderness and the problems show up most.

Val: They asked me which kidney I would rather have it taken out of, and I said, well, the right one is all right. Dr. Jensen: The right one is all right.

Val: They could have taken it out of the left one I’m sure. Dr. Jensen: I see. Well, now here we have the right kidney and they had the biopsy taken out there. They didn’t suspect anything else outside of nephritis, did they?

Val: They didn’t mention anything else, as I recall.

Dr. Jensen: No, but, going around trying to, get rid of this water here in the body, when did you come in here?

Val: First of January.

Dr. Jensen: First of January, this year, 1977.

Val: That’s right.

Dr. Jensen: I’d like to go through just a little bit here; we mentioned that we had these healing crises, these healing signs. I’d like to go through the healing process as we take a patient through. When I saw this kidney weakness here, the first thing I recognized was that I didn’t want too much of an elimination. I did not want to release a lot of toxic materials into his body that the kidneys would have to take care of. The man couldn’t take care of the fluids and the water that he had already, and , we find out what is an elimination diet made up of? It is usually carrot juice or some juices. It’s always liquids and an elimination diet is going into more of the vegetarian diet; more fruits, and so forth, and to stir all of this up, we actually went into a program, but I kept this man eating, and I insisted that he eat – and he did. In fact, there were times there when I thought he was trying to outdo my horses, but we find out that over a period of a month, while he was eating, changing his diet, how much did you lose? Val: Well, I came in about 175 and when I left on the first of April, I weighed about 141, as I am now.

Dr. Jensen: Well, the main thing that I was seeing here is that you were losing this weight all the time you were eating. Val: Oh yes, every week I lost 10 pounds of water.

Dr. Jensen: Lost 10 pounds of water every week while he was eating. The next thing I would like to bring out is that you hit a healing crisis here and that was about a month after, wasn’t it, Val?

Val: That’s right.

Dr. Jensen: What happened?

Val: Well, I was feeling pretty good. I was walking all over the hills and I thought I was really doing great, which I was, and a healing crisis hit me that night and…

Dr. Jensen: This healing crisis hit you when you were really feeling good? Val: The very best.

Dr. Jensen: I want you to know that this is when it comes. When anyone tells me that they feel good, I’m afraid of the next few hours…then, what hit you?

Val: Well, all night case of diarrhea, and, well, not all night, all that night, and all the next day and all the next day.

Dr. Jensen: And, we find when we come to this diarrhea, what do you mean by a diarrhea?

Val: Do you want me to explain? Dr. Jensen: Do I want you to explain? I’ll tell you; these are all doctors here and they won’t mind if you tell them that it was 20 or 30 bowel movements a day.

Dr. Jensen: In other words, he couldn’t come to me and I couldn’t see him because he was busy. Now this lasted for approximately 3 days, didn’t it, Val? Val: Three days; and I had an extreme high fever. I never had any vomiting, but the next crises, I did have vomiting too.

Val: Yes, it was about 30 bowel movements a day at least.

Dr. Jensen: Yes, I just wondered here with all of this diarrhea and this experience in the bathroom here, let me ask you this question. How much did you lose that first month just eating? Wasn’t it about 30 pounds?

Val: Yes, about 30 pounds.

Dr. Jensen: Well, let me ask you this question. How much did you lose in the next 3 days?

Val: About 12 pounds in 3 days.

Dr. Jensen: You lost 12 pounds in 3 days, and he came down to the place where he didn’t have to go in the door sideways. You find out that he lost…this was fluids that he was losing, so you see I had to go back over the old trouble, bowel troubles. I had to go over and relieve those kidneys to throw these fluids out through the kidneys; we were saving the kidneys from doing that work and that’s where a diarrhea came to save and to help this boy. This is why you don’t stop the diarrhea. I know he would like to have had me stop it, or “What is going on here? I felt so good, and look at me now.” But, you see this is the reversal process and we had to go back and clear up that bowel. Well, I’m only bringing this thing out, that he left here feeling pretty good. He had a second crisis after he went home, isn’t that right, Val? Val: Yes, it is.

Dr. Jensen: After he left here he had another crisis at home, and this crisis at home, Val, are you at liberty to say what happened in that?

Val: Yes. I had an extremely high fever. I thought I was actually going to burn up and I had diarrhea again and vomiting at the same time for 3 days again. And, I might mention, that when I lost all of this water, maybe 3 or 4 lbs. would come back, but never more than that. Then I lost another 10 lbs. with the crisis at home, and maybe just a little came back during the month, but not very much, and of course, I still have a little water retention now, but you could hardly tell it.

Dr. Jensen: Yes, of course, and the doctors back home were kind of glad to see you, or did you go in and have a test again or what did you do with that?

Dr. Jensen: Yes, and they were saying that you were the miracle patient.

Val: Oh yes, they called me a miracle patient, but how I got well, they don’t know. I should tell them -I will— real soon, I believe.

Dr. Jensen: Yes. Val has been waiting to make sure that this is working. The nicest thing through all of this, this boy wants to go into this work and he has changed his attitude, his mind, and he is going into this work now, because of what it has done for him and the nice thing that I can say, Val, is that any time I can help you, I will always do it. Well, I will say this too, Val, that I hope when you tell these people that you are coming into the sunshine, getting away from the cold, I can only tell you this that when you come into this work you’re coming into the light.

Val: Two more things I want to mention.

Dr. Jensen: There are two more things that he wants to mention.

Val: It might be interesting to all of you that I did have some X-rays taken of my colon a year ago and I have those X-rays with me, and you noticed in the iris that it was dropped and then, in these X-rays that definitely does drop. Another thing that is interesting while I was so swelled up with water in my worst days, the scrotum was severely swelled for months… Dr. Jensen: I mentioned about it…which one was it? Was it the right? Val: That’s right.

Dr. Jensen: I mentioned about it…Was it the right?

Val: That’s right. I really had a lot of problems there and I still have a lot of infection and blood secreting all the time.

Dr. Jensen: You mean through the urine, through other secretions?

Val: Not through the urine .just at night while I’m resting. Ill get up with a lot of blood not often. It’s a lot better than it used to be, but there is a definite problem there and I have a lot of catarrh there. Dr. Jensen: Yes, he was just trying to bring out that some of these other things that we mentioned here, they bring themselves out in his problems along with the iris itself. Well, this should be a day of light for you and I just want everything good to come to you.

In closing… I would like to add here that during the days, weeks and months when I was searching so desperately for the way out of my illness and for my very life, I never dreamed that it would ultimately bring such a change into my life and that of my entire family. We now have two acres of land, our garden, and we’re busy repairing the fences and taking care of our goat and chickens. I am even biginning to play basketball and practicing to develop the tone of my tissues in my body again.

My name is Andre von Peczely. I have been invited by Dr. Bernard Jensen to give you some information and family stories from the life of my great uncle, Dr. Ignacz von Peczely, who is considered “the father of iridology.”

I do not want to repeat what the world already knows from books by Drs. Zoppritz, Schlegel and many others, but most importantly, books by Dr. Jensen. I would like to talk mainly about Uncle Ignacz’s personality and private life. Uncle Ignacz died six years before I was born, and so, consequently, I never met him, but I’ve loved him since I was six years old.

My father, Laszlo Peczely, a homeopathic physician, worked eleven years on Uncle Ignacz’s discoveries, using his handwritten notebooks. My father organized several hundred pages of these notes into book form. The first, and so far the most important, is the book Iris Diagnosis, published by Dr. L. Peczely, in the Hungarian language in 1980 and in German in 1981. The books, Fingernails Diagnosis and The Law of the Nature for Sex and Health Control Through the Timing of Fertilization, are both unpublished as yet. These manuscripts are in my possession, and I am working on the English translations presently.

My late brother, a medical doctor, Attila Peczely, who represented Dr. Ignacz Pecze-ly’s ideas at the First World Congress of Iridology in Germany in 1933, and at the Second Congress in Nuremberg in 1935, was elected Honorary President of the International Association of Iridologists. He also wrote a 30-page booklet on the life story of Ignacz Peczely. (Dr. Bernard Jensen and I are presently working on a translation of this.)

Most of my information about Uncle Ignacz comes from both my father and brother — from our family records.

Ignacz had a great childhood in Egervar, Hungary, where he lived with his parents in an old castle called “The Fort of Egervar” Life there was good for them. His father worked in agriculture; they had a good social life. There was hunting, horseback riding, etc.

In his youth, Ignacz, showed fantastic talent for drawing, painting, sculpture and mathematics. In his later life, he was a teacher of drawing and art for a short time.

Iridology had its beginnings when Uncle Ignacz captured an owl. The owl hurt his hand so badly with its claws, Ignacz had to break its right leg for relief. Ignacz immediately noticed a red spot appearing in the owl’s right iris. Later, in Uncle Ignacz’s life, he recognized the same spot in a man’s iris, and this was the beginning of iris diagnosis.

Uncle Ignacz started to practice homeopathic medicine after learning Dr. Hahne-mann system from a medical doctor. He had fantastic success, and people called him “the wonder doctor” At this time, he was not a medical doctor.

Later, because of the government pressure and pressure from some jealous allopathic physicians, Ignacz made his decision to attend the University of Medicine in Budapest, and later, the same university in Vienna. At age 36, he became a medical doctor.

Dr. Peczely supported twelve poor students from his income—some of them became famous doctors, too. In Vienna and Budapest, Ignacz made many friends, but he also made many enemies because of his new ideas. Before his final examination in Vienna, Professor Rokitansky gave him a warning, “Do not try to take an examination in my subject! I will not let you have a diploma!”

Ignacz studied Rokitansky’s book night and day, and on the day of the examination, he carried a gun in his pocket. . .to kill himself if he failed. At the examination, after every question, Ignacz repeated Rokitansky’s writing word for word! The Professor was so surprised to hear his own words from Ignacz’s lips he gave him the highest degree in his subject. The good Lord helped Uncle Ignacz, and he didn’t need the gun.

Ignacz started practicing medicine in Budapest as a registered medical doctor in 1886, with unbelievable success. After several financially successful years, the millionaire doctor purchased an expensive palace in the best part of the city, and used the main floor as his office. He had a male secretary, a bookkeeper, a mute female as his full-time housekeeper, a full-time cook, and a horse coach for his service.

His daily schedule of six days a week consisted of the following: 9:00 a.m., breakfast, which always consisted of two soft-boiled eggs, one medium-size baked potato—no butter. (My father copied his breakfast every morning also, and I had the cap of the eggs.) After breakfast, his secretary opened the mail and presented the daily schedule. 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., he worked with his patients. After work, he rested until 4:00 p.m. Every Saturday he gave treatment to the poor—free! At 4:00 p.m. he had dinner in his formal dining room with 8, 10 or more friends and guests. This was his only social life. The meal was luxurious for the guests.

Dr. Peczely was a very moderate eater. He ate everything he wanted, but small portions. He drank only plain water at room temperature. He ate two large steamed carrots with sugar at every dinner. He favored vegetable

dishes.

Ignacz was an unbelievably strong man, with small hands and feet. He would wear only handmade shoes and gloves. His hobby was to entertain his friends by bending horseshoes with his bare hands! This strength saved him once when two hired men attacked him with knives. Ignacz grabbed them, physically picked them up and hit them against each other until they were unconscious. He dropped them to the street and left. No police report was filed.

Uncle Ignacz truly loved his brother, who was seven years younger, and physically opposite from him. His brother had a small body with beautiful hands with long fingers. He played the piano, and at age nine, gave a Chopin concert with somebody pushing the piano pedals for him!

At the age of 60, Uncle Ignacz married a woman 14 years younger than he. She was from a famous, and previously rich family. Her parents lost their estate, and she married Uncle Ignacz for his money! She was waiting for him to die, but the Good Lord gave him a long life.

Ignacz often had doctors visiting him from Europe. The Swedish homeopath, Nils Lilije-quist, wrote to him for the first time in 1885; he later visited him in Budapest.

After a long and almost tragic life, Uncle Ignacz passed away at his home in 1911, at the age of 85, without ever having permission from the Hungarian government to build his own clinic to prove the truth of his discoveries. He did write his memoirs; and

I hope someone will be able to continue my job of translating them and be able to publish this man’s memoirs.

Ignacz is buried in my father’s hometown of Kiskomarom, Hungary, next to his beloved brother; my father, Laszlo; my grandfather; and other members of our family. His wife is not buried with the family. Uncle Ignacz never said a single word about his unhappy marriage, but in his will, he told my father not to bury him with his wife.

In his will, Ignacz left several hundred thousand forints each to his late brother’s four children. The rest was given to my father, with all estates and rights to his books, discoveries and the rights to sell his new homeopathic medicines. My father was his unconditional heir.

After World War II, life was very difficult for me in Hungary, and in 1956, I began a new life in America. I had forgotten about Uncle Ignacz and his iris diagnosis! One day, toward the end of 1987, however, a friend gave me a book on iridology by Dr. Bernard Jensen. It contained a story about my great uncle. I called Dr. Jensen and introduced myself. Shortly after that, Dr. Jensen made a trip to my home in Foster City, California, seeking information on Uncle Ignacz and his work.

Only a great man and scientist, such as Dr. Jensen, would be so faithful to his believed ideas to spend the time to find more information about this respected man, Dr. Ignacz von Peczely. And, after Bernard spent more time with me, he opened my heart again to my uncle and the science of iri-dology, and here I am, back in the family interest again.
